The APPG on Arbitrary Detention and Hostage Affairs submitted the following evidence to the Foreign Affairs Committee's inquiry into the UK's sanctions strategy. Drawing from the APPG's ongoing ad-hoc inquiry into the arbitrary detention of British citizens, the APPG submitted that there is a need for a review of the UK's sanctions regime to effectively deter human rights violations, including arbitrary detention of British nationals, and increase parliamentary oversight of the sanctions regime.
